"It is with great pleasure that we are writing to you all to announce our Lynbrook ACT program, students and staff, has been chosen as one of the two programs to receive special recognition by our school at the Lynbrook Board meeting on March 18."
"Con gran placer les escribimos para anunciarles que nuestro Programa ACT de Lynbrook, estudiantes y personal, ha sido escogido como uno de los dos programas que recibirán un reconocimiento especial por nuestro colegio en la asamblea de dirigentes del Distrito de Colegios Secundarios de Freemont el 18 de Marzo."
Ayer participamos con Tessie de la Asamblea. Fue un acto de reconocimiento a la intensa labor que vienen llevando acabo en el programa Académico de Transición a la Comunidad, ACT por sus siglas en inglés. Como mencionaban al anunciar el reconocimiento estos profesores, terapeutas y ayudantes son verdaderos asistentes de los estudiantes, preparándolos para llevar una vida independiente dándoles recursos para su vida cotidiana y desarrollando en ellos aptitudes para el trabajo. Evidentemente se esmeran por encima de su deber, logrando un impacto poderoso en los sentimientos y las memorias de nuestros hijos. Fortaleciéndoles la confianza en sí mismos. Realizan su labor con un alto grado de profesionalidad y una gran dedicación definida por su compromiso y horas de trabajo. Estimulan a los jóvenes para que vuelen alto ayudándolos a superar los miedos de caer y afrontando los desafíos con mucha preparación previa.
Los estudiantes llegan a clase rebotando de alegría al caminar porque las clases son amenas, interesantes, poderosas y creativas. Logran que entre los pares trabajen colaborando para resolver sus problemas. Los preparan para que tengan una mejor comprensión del mundo que los rodea. Los conducen para que acepten sus limitaciones y se muevan hacia adelante para lograr tener su voz propia y participar integralmente de la vida en comunidad.
Lynbrook es uno de los mejores colegios secundarios de USA pero por sobretodo es un lugar que festeja la diversidad y atrae a personas de corazón generoso y apasionados con su labor de educar.
A Tessie las vemos madurar día a día. Realiza con esmero su tarea y repite en casa las consignas que le dieron sus profesores. Quiere hacerse cargo de sus quehaceres cotidianos, ordena su cama, se prepara sus comidas. En cada labor realizada nos demuestra el gusto que siente al verse capaz. Desde el colegio parte dos veces por semana junto con Griffin, un compañero, a su lugar de trabajo. Van solos los dos en colectivo. Tienen a la santa de Mrs Jasper que los espera para organizarles su trabajo. Colaboran en la preparación y servicio de alimentos en la cafetería del colegio Queen of Apostles. Su mundo se expande a cada paso y ella se esmera para defender el terreno conquistado.
Gracias a Mr Jim Schussler, Mr Saeid Safadoost, Mr Gary Guzman, Mrs Lou Rogers, Mrs Betty Lee, Mrs Jasper y Mr Al Diaz por todo su gran trabajo y dedicación. Gracias a Dios por darnos la posibilidad de ser beneficiarios del esfuerzo de toda esta gente de gran corazón.
Yesterday we attended the Board Meeting with Tessie. It was an act of recognition to the intense labor that is being done in the ACT program at Lynbrook High School (Academic Community Transition).
This teachers, par educators and aids are assisting the students, getting them ready to live an independent life, giving them life skills and helping them develop aptitudes for their job.
Obviously they work above their duty, making a great impact on the feelings and memories of our kids. They strengthen their self esteem. They put in their job a great deal of professionalism and a great dedication defined by their compromise and lots of hours of hard work. They cheer our kids to fly high and they harness their fear to fall with thoughtful of anticipation.
The students arrive to class with a skip on the step because the class is engaging, interesting, powerful and creative. The teachers and aides make them collaborate to solve problems. They help them grasp a greater comprehension of the world that surrounds them. They lead them into acceptance of their limitations and show them how to move forward so that they can found their own voice among others and perform usefully in the community.
Lynbrook is one of the best High Schools in USA but above all is a place that celebrates diversity and engages wholehearted people and passionate educators.
We see how Tessie is growing in a daily basis. She puts effort in her work and brings home her teachers words engraved deep in. She wants to be in charge of her daily routine tidying up her bed and preparing her food. In each endeavor she demonstrates she´s proud of her achievements. She departs twice a week, from school, with her friend Griffin, to work. They travel by themselves. Mrs. Jasper patiently waits to train them on the job. They prepare food and serve it at the Queens of Apostles cafeteria. Her world expands on each step she takes forward and she fiercely defends her conquered territory.
Thank you Mr. Jim Schussler, Mr. Saied Safadoost, Mr. Gary Guzman, Mrs. Lou Rogers, Mrs. Betty Lee and Mrs. Jasper for all your hard work and dedication. Thanks to God for giving us the chance of being beneficiaries of the great effort of this entire wholehearted people.
