We are thankful for the opportunity of celebrating this Memorial weekend and the team building.
We were invited to participate in the 10th Annual Western Region Challenger Jamboree organized by the District. Challenger teams from all over California´s 57 District gathered at Dublin for a fun day of baseball playing. They receive us with a great lunch and gave us plenty of goodies.
Estamos muy agradecidos por poder celebrar este Memorial Day y consolidar nuestro equipo.
Nos invitaron a participar del 10mo. Encuentro Anual de la Region Oeste de los equipos Challenger, para discapacitados organizados por el Distrito. Equipos de todo el Distrito 57 de California se reunieron en Dublin para disfrutar de un día alegre de baseball. Nos recibieron con un almuerzo fenomenal y nos regalaron una cantidad de premios por participar.
Our Coach, Amy Jasper, was waiting for us with a table set up. Her organization was impecable and her disposition to help us, nurture us and build the team experience is outstanding!
I was too busy holding everybody together and could´t take pictures of this first event. It was really colorful and joyous. We played our match against the Giants and were helped by the Philly´s team. With Palita we took second base and had a chance to chit chat with all the Giants players that passed by. I like how the diamond ends up all redesign with the track of the wheel chairs, next time I am going to take a picture to share. It is amazing how everybody participate. Kids that suffer autism can follow the rules and take their turn batting and running the bases. It is a mystery how they can connect with the play and celebrate with the high five at the end in the dugout. Palita celebrates every part of the game. Tessie tends to make more pet friends but she is focus and runs hard in the field. Everybody loves to be cheered!
We took the whole package and enjoyed the night at the hotel with breakfast included. We made friends with player from Fresno and Madera. We saw them next day Bowling and in the after noon at the Giants, we where all seated in the same section of the bleachers.
Nuestra Entrenadora, Amy Jasper, nos esperaba con la mesa preparada. Su organización resultó impecable y su disposición para ayudar, nutrirnos y lograr edificar el equipo es sobresaliente!
Estuve muy concentrada en mantener mi equipo junto y controlado y no atiné a sacar fotos del evento. Fue una jornada alegre y colorida. Jugamos nuestro partido contra los Giants en colaboración del equipo de los Philly´s. Con Palita tomamos la segunda base en el campo y tuvimos oportunidad de saludar y conversar con todos los jugadores que pasaron por allí. Me encanta ver como el diamante queda rediseñado con las huellas de la silla de rueda, la próxima le voy a sacar una foto para compartir. Es un espectáculo ver como todos participan. Los chicos que tiene autismo se pueden conectar y seguir las reglas bateando y recorriendo todo el circuito. Es un misterio como se pueden enganchar en el juego y celebrar con palmadas al llegar a descansar con el equipo. Palita celebra cada parte del juego. Tessie se hace más amiga de las mascotas pero también se concentra al batear y se esfuerza en el campo al correr por las bases.
Todos disfrutan con el aliento de la hinchada!
Tomamos todo el paquete de beneficios y disfrutamos de una noche en el hotel con el desayuno incluido. Nos hicimos amigos de jugadores que venian desde Fresno y Madera. Los vimos al día siguiente en el Bowling y por la tarde en el estadio de los Giants, estábamos todos sentados en la misma tribuna.
The Coach remind us of the Bowling invitation and we follow her lead and enjoy a morning of bowling. It was amazing to see how a challenger player was able to bowl beside us from his wheel chair. He had a rail that made him able to throw without standing.
Nuestra Entrenadora nos recordó la invitación para jugar Bolos y seguimos su consejo. Fue impresionante ver como un jugador en sillas de rueda podía arrojar el bolo. Tenía un riel que elevaba la pista hasta la altura de sus manos y no necesitaba pararse para participar.
The ride across the Bay Bridge was spectacular. Tessie was upset with the loud noise at the stadium. We enjoy meeting the rest of our team at the bleachers. Alex, Dan, Jean and Ross where there. We enjoy a snack and pay attention to the rules instruction that Dan explained us while we watch the game. Between inn ins we took a bathroom brake and end us getting lost. It was really scary to lost track of Tessie and Juanjo in the middle of such a big crowd. We were saved by the team that helped us find each other. It was a really good team building experience!
El cruce del puente Bay Bride fue espectacular. Tessie se alteró con el griterío que había en el estadio. Nos alegramos al encontrarnos con el resto del equipo en la tribuna. Estaban Alex, Dan, Jean y Ross. Nos comimos una rica picada y prestamos atención a la detallada descripción de las reglas que Dan nos dio mientras observábamos la jugada. En el entretiempo fuimos a hacer una parada técnica al baño y terminamos perdiéndonos. Me asusté mucho de perder a Tessie y a Juanjo en medio de la multitud. Nos salvó el equipo que nos ayudó a reencontrarnos.
Fue una experiencia extraordinaria para consolidar el equipo!
