TENDENCIA MUNDIAL HACIA LA CONSTRUCCIÓN DE UNA SOCIEDAD MÁS DIVERSA Y PLURAL - WORLD TENDENCY TO BUILT A PLURAL AND DIVERSE SOCIETY

Ayer me llegó una carta anunciando que el Colegio Newman ha decidido  

 incluir en su 1er año de primaria 2015 a un niño con capacidades diferentes. 

El director del colegio, Alberto Olivero, lo anunció como respuesta a la tendencia mundial hacia la construcción de una sociedad más diversa y plural. José, mi marido, es egresado de este colegio. Me llenó de alegría su decisión y acompaño la buena nueva con esta carta de adherencia y promoción de esta movida:

Queridos amigos de José y amigos míos también:

José me acaba de reenviar la noticia que Alberto Olivero les quiso hacer llegar.

Ayer compré pasaje para ir a Buenos Aires con la intención de presentar la novela que escribí para su difusión.

El año pasado me movilizó mucho la charla de Mat Rabinowitz, de Natera, en Stanford.

Contaba que su hermana vivió la tragedia de ver a su hijo recién nacido morir porque tenía Síndrome de Down y muy malas condiciones de salud. El cree que todo ese dolor se podría haber evitado y empezó una compañía de diagnóstico precoz prenatal para detectar anomalías genéticas. Una pregunta me nació del alma: ¿Cómo dan ese diagnóstico?

Porque si sólo muestran el defecto técnico pueden llegar a hacer un discurso nazista y eliminar toda la raza de los síndrome Down induciendo a abortar a los que no son NORMALES.

Como tengo una hermana con ese síndrome y dos hijas discapacitadas, me apuré a escribir una novela: Revelaciones Misteriosas. El Papa Francisco nos pidió que demos testimonio de cómo se nos ha revelado Dios en nuestras vidas. En mi familia Dios se nos  mostró al enseñarnos a amar al diferente.

Esta decisión que toma el Newman, para mí, es un canto de esperanza. Me acuerdo las palabras del Brother Burke cuando estuvo en BA. Dijo que la espiritualidad de la congregación ha desarrollado un carisma principalmente humano. Este paso hacia la integración y la aceptación de nuestras propias limitaciones nos hace tremendamente humanos.

No quería dejar pasar el momento sin celebrarlo con ustedes, los amigos.

Yesterday I receive a letter announcing that Newman School in Buenos Aires, Argentina, 

has decided to include in first grade in 2015 a boy with special needs.

The director of the school, Alberto Olivero and the whole board, made this decision as a response to the world tendency in the construction of a plural and diverse society. My husband, José, is alumni of this school. This announcement filled me with joy. I join this movement and promote it with this letter of adherence:

Dear Friends of Jose and My Friends as well:

José just shared with me the news that Alberto Olivero has send you all. Yesterday I bought my tickets to travel to Buenos Aires with the goal of presenting the novel I wrote.

Last year I was touched by the talk that Matt Rabinowitz, from Natera, offered in Stanford. He told us that his family suffered a tragic moment when his sister delivered a baby that died soon after birth because he had Down Syndrome and his health was really poor. He believes that that kind of suffering can be prevented and avoided. For this reason he started a company, Natera, that delivers early prenatal diagnosis of genetic alterations. The big question that was boggling me was: How do you deliver the diagnosis? Because if you only pin point the technical defect you might develop a Nazist discourse and end up leading everybody to abort and exterminate the Down Syndrome race or any that is not NORMAL.

I have a sister with that syndrome and two daughters with special needs so I hurry to write a novel with my own testimony: Mysterious Revelations. Pope Francis encourages us to share the way how God has revealed to us in our lives. In my family, God shows us how to love the different one.

This decision that the Newman is taking is a sign of hope. I can recall Brother Burke´s, former director of the school and leader of the Christian Brothers Congregation, words when he visited Buenos Aires. He said that the spirituality of the congregation has develop a very human charisma. This movement to integration and acceptance of our own shortcomings makes us essentially humans.

I didn't want to let go of this very moment without celebrating with all of you, my friends.
